Project Student Housing is a software firm on a mission to bring ‘the student rental sector into the 21st century.’

Launching this year, the tech start-up is a software-as-a-service company which aims to provide private landlords with a digital workflow system in lieu of using lettings agents, helping them reduce costs and streamline their processes.

Founder Vishay Karia developed the idea for the platform following his own experience of student lettings and the inefficiencies in the process for landlords. Vishay is now hoping to launch the online platform in 2023, having had enquiries from a number of providers.

The support

Vishay approached Sunderland Software City with a promising business idea although at a very early-stage. In particular, he needed technical advice and guidance on the steps to follow to turn his idea into a business.

He received a range of support from Tech Startup Sunderland, one of Sunderland Software City’s startup support programmes, including the help of a fractional team, technical guidance, business development advice and access to a support network of fellow tech startup founders.

“Tech Startup Sunderland has really propelled my business. Without the help of, Mark, Michael, Steve, Róisín and the rest of the team, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
“Setting up a business is a lonely and isolating place, particularly as a sole founder, but having a fractional C-Suite team with a wealth of experience is invaluable. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to start a tech business.
“Having people on board who have been there and done it before; no accelerator or incubator can compare to that.”
