To say I always loved networking wouldn't just be a bit of an exaggeration, it would be a down-right lie!

I spent most of the first event I attended hiding in the toilets trying to dodge people in suits, asking me questions about CGI and Animation (still don't really know what it is). Yet twelve years on and I'm just about to launch my first full-day 'Strategic Networking for Business Leaders' training sessions, and I couldn't be more excited!

Not only will I share practical advice and tips on what I've learnt from ten years of running networking organisations, but I'll also introduce the new Networking Eco-System Model . The Model is something I've been working on in partnership with Durham University, and I'm so pleased to be able to apply it during this training.

The Model allows businesses, and individuals, to strategically network for the first time; giving focus and clarity to their activities to ensure maximum ROI as well as saving valuable time, money and resources. They can position themselves in a targeted manor based on their goals and desired markets (like targeted Facebook ads but in the real world!).

My goal is for people to see networking in the same way they see other marketing functions; we spend so much time and money on social media strategies and marketing plans, yet networking's often left as a second thought. People see it as a 'jolly' rather than the immensely powerful tool that it is - and now's the time for that to change.

Having tested the full-day's training course at the end of 2018 I can't wait to open up the content to businesses and individuals in the North East and beyond! The introduction of a networking strategy and essential relationship management and soft skills you and your staff will learn, could be the thing that sets you apart from the competition - no matter what stage of business you're at.

That's the beauty of networking; you never know where it can lead.
