Careers in tech

We are really excited to announce that Sunderland Software City’s new skills and training programme ‘Go Reboot Plus’ launches this month.

We are launching this new program to contribute to addressing the digital skills gap in the region. The course is a free to access digital training programme for residents in North Tyneside who are currently not in work or education. The four-week-long training programme will be delivered with Newcastle College and will help individuals develop digital skills, learn about routes to securing a career in digital and connect with local employers. The course will not only support individuals to improve their employment chances, but is also designed to build confidence, provide routine and enable peer networking.

The course will run bi-monthly with the goal of training 120 adults in the region. Go Reboot Plus is the evolution of our long-standing successful Go Reboot programme to provide longer term mentoring and guidance for individuals who are currently not in employment or education.

The Sunderland Software City North East Digital Skills Audit 2021 was able to highlight that there is a clear lack of skilled job seekers with relevant work experience (82%). As an organisation we are working towards educating the region regarding the different jobs that are available and accessible with the North East tech sector, while helping individuals successfully navigate a route into these careers.
